The Need for Self-Defense
Nowadays, more than ever, women are vulnerable to male attackers. In fact, news reports, crime fighting shows and even police records often show women of different ages being attacked and even sexually abused by male offenders. The worse part of this fact is that the female victims did not even have a weapon, a strategy or a technique to defend their selves from the attack, making them seem more helpless. This reason alone is enough to drive some women into watching mma training videos and learning some martial arts movements they can use as self defense.
Even men agree that it is crucial that women and kids as well learn how to defend themselves against male and bigger attackers. Different schools and organizations created martial arts programs and self defense courses exclusively for women. All types and disciplines of martial arts teach women different techniques and ways on how to avoid physical confrontation and how to face one when necessary.
The internet has also made it more convenient for women to learn simple yet effective moves that can help them defend their selves from a physical attack. Videos showing martial arts movements from karate, kick boxing, aikido, judo, jiu jitsu and kung fu can be easily accessed by one with a computer and an internet connection. By imitating such moves, a woman can learn basic martial arts right at the comfort of her own home.
